Beautification Continues in Kerikeri
|
Kerikeri’s mainstreet
beautification project resumes this week (Sunday, April 6) with work
around the intersection of Homestead and Kerikeri Roads.
The work adjoins the central part of the upgrade and continues the theme
of stone walls, paving, planting, lighting and street furniture already
familiar to Kerikeri residents. The same lead contractor, Stonecraft
Construction, will be used to ensure continuity.
District facilities operations manager Sue Hodge says the $500,000 extension
will take about 12 weeks to complete and every effort will be made to
minimise disruption during the project.
"We have contacted affected businesses individually and are asking
street users to take care around the construction area," she said.
"The contractor has advised he can answer any questions or comments
people may have about the project while it is in progress - it’s
just a matter of talking to him when he’s on site."
Next year the council will complete the section between the intersection
and the Butler Centre on both sides of the street. The Butler Centre
itself is being landscaped by the developer who has agreed to extend
the existing theme.
