TITLE:

Development Consents Staff In Kerikeri From June 3

Development consents and liquor licensing services will be offered from the John Butler Centre in Kerikeri from Tuesday June 3, the Far North District Council advises.

The 44 resource consent and building staff will receive and process development consents applications, providing a comprehensive service from the top floor of the building on the corner of Kerikeri and Butler Roads.

Development consents concept development meetings will be offered at Kerikeri and will continue to be offered at Kaikohe where around 180 council staff will remain to deliver a wide range of council services.

The relocation will bring development consents staff closer to the action in that an average of around 86 per cent of all consents processed and properties inspected are in the east of the district.

“This will make business easier for most of our development consents customers and allow us to operate more efficiently,” said Development Consents General Manager Patrick Schofield.

“Our research indicates that the Far North development industry welcomes the move, which has many benefits including reducing the endless flow of development-related traffic between the council’s Kaikohe office and Kerikeri and vice-versa.”

The council is also moving to strengthen its Kaitaia development consents services as part of its efforts to put the customer first and adopt a more business-like approach to the way in which it operates. It is hoped that two full-time resource planners will work from the Kaitaia office by August this year.

Key points to note about the Kerikeri move:
• The Development Consents Department will close for business at 12 noon on Friday May 30 to allow preparations for the move. Consents information can be accessed by contacting the council’s 0800 920 029 number or via the website www.fndc.govt.nz

• The department will re-open for business at 8am on Tuesday June 3
• The Procter Library will continue to be the council’s service centre in Kerikeri
• Comprehensive development consents and liquor licensing services will be offered at the new location on the top floor of the John Butler Centre
• There is access for the disabled
• There are six 30-minute carparks for council customers
• A well equipped, modern conference facility seating from 16 (around a table) to 30 will be available for hire
• Concept development meetings will continue to be offered at Kaikohe
• Around 180 council staff will remain in Kaikohe
