CEO Leaves
Far North District Council After 9 Years In The Role |
Far North
Mayor Wayne Brown today (6 August) announced the resignation of the
council's Chief Executive, Clive Manley.
The Mayor indicated that Clive Manley had held the role of Chief Executive
in the Far North during a period of significant change.
"Clive joined the council in 1999 when it was in financial difficulties
and was plagued with failing infrastructure. He leaves the council in
a sound financial position and with significant progress on improvements
to all areas of our infrastructural assets.
"We have also all benefited by his keen focus on building the Civil
Defence capability in the region as demonstrated by the response to
the storms of the last few years," he said.
Furthermore he said that Clive had been a leader in the region through
his ability to work constructively with local and central government
and the Iwi Authorities. He had also been a major contributor to a number
of joint local government initiatives which have benefited not just
the Far North but many parts of New Zealand.
He leaves his position to pursue consulting opportunities in the local
government and civil defence areas.
“He goes with the Council’s appreciation for his contributions
in the past and our very best wishes for the future,” concluded
Wayne Brown.
Clive Manley will leave his current position on 15 August. An interim
Chief Executive has been arranged and details of this appointment will
be advised shortly.
Clive’s intention to step down from the role has been under discussion
with the council for some time. Once his final decision was made, the
council and Clive agreed that it was in the interests of stability and
certainty of council operations and also in Clive’s own best interests
that he be let go to pursue his new directions as soon as an interim
replacement was found.
