Applying to hold an event on a

Council Reserve

Are you planning an event? A sports day, wedding, or fund-raiser? This page provides information about some things to consider when planning to hold an event on a Council owned or managed Reserve.

Community and business groups, clubs, educational servers and individuals often contact us with requests to hold events on Council owned or managed reserves. These events can range from Sports Days, Christmas and Street Parades, Festivals, and Fund Raisers to private events such as Weddings and Family reunions.

When you apply to hold an event on a Council Reserve we will ensure that no more than one group plans to use the Reserve at the same time and we will also ensure that you are provided with a clean and tidy environment. We can carry out special requests such as providing recycling bins and provide advice about whether you also need to consider applying for other special consents or licences such as a Liquor Licence, Mobile Shop Licence and/or Road Closure/s.

When you make your application, we will help by coordinating with other relevant Council departments to process these consents.

Application Process

The council maintains an events calendar to enable us to quickly see which reserves are already in use. When you contact us, the first thing we do is to check our Events Calendar to make sure the Reserve is available on the scheduled date.

Our Customer Service staff will then supply you with an application form to be completed and forwarded to our Community Services Department.

Alternatively you can download the form here, and send it to us using the contact details on the form.

If your application is successful, a “Permit to use Council Reserve or other Public Place” will be posted to you.

It is free to apply for a permit to use a reserve, however there are conditions of use. You will advised of all relevant conditions when you receive your permit.
