Activity Management Plans

The Far North District Council (FNDC) has drafted Activity Management Plans (AMPs) which are included in the Far North Future Plan and its public consultation process.

Each of these plans reflects what will be required if the Council is going to be able to maintain service capacity, and preserve the integrity of its assets throughout their useful lives.

The completed AMPs when adopted in June 2006 will be used as the prime tools to drive and manage these Council activities.

The AMPs are available here in PDF format for you to download. They can alternatively be viewed on site at any Council Service Centre throughout the district or you can purchase a copy for $7.50 each or $100 for all 15 AMPs, please place an order through our Customer Liaison team using our normal contact details.

Why were the AMPs created/written?

All councils are now required to write plans for all activities, by law – Local Government Act 2002. The plans will help us improve our service through better planning, and help us meet the levels of service that the community has said it is prepared to pay for.

What process did you go through to propose and adopt these draft plans?

Before we wrote the plans we started by discussing what levels of service the community wants and what it is prepared to pay for (strategies), what it costs each year to maintain the assets we already have, and what it will cost for new initiatives, schemes, systems etc. Then we worked out what we would do in each year, how much that cost each year, what new resources we might need etc. That was all put together as a draft Activity Management Plan, so that the community can clearly see what we plan for them for the next 10 years, and to give everyone the opportunity to make a submission in support, or objection to, during the Future Plan consultation process in March and April 2006.
