Removing wood for firewood

When trees are cut on parks, the wood is left for local residents to take as firewood. 

If the firewood has been cut down into blocks and left in piles, then this wood has been left for residents to use for firewood.  If it hasn't, then please contact us using our normal contact details and advise us of the locations and the Council will investigate.

Request for new planting of park or street tree

Unfortunately there is no budget for street tree plantings, and it is against Council policy to do one-off plantings.  If you wish  to request development and/or planting of a particular Park, the please make a submission to Council as part of the Annual Planning process.  However, if you are interested in supplying and planting your own trees, please contact us using our normal contact details with the following information:

  • Which park or street? 
  • Where in the park or street? 
  • What type of plants do you have in mind? 
  • Why is planting needed?

This can then be passed to our contracts manager who will advise you if it is alright to go ahead.

Maintenance required on trees

If there are problems with a council tree in either a park or on the street, please contact us using our normal contact details.

Please advise us the following

  • Is it a large tree (over 2m in height) or is it a juvenile tree?
  • Is it dangerous and posing a threat to life or property
  • If it is a juvenile tree, has it been damaged through vandalism or removed by thieves

If the tree is growing through or touching power lines and it appears that the tree may catch fire, the power cable may snap under the weight of the branch, or persons or property are likely to be endangered by electrocution then please call our call centre immediately and our after hours service will deal with the problem.
