Recreation Plans

After undertaking consultation with the districts communities in March and April this year Council has prepared draft recreation plans that cover the Northern, Western and Eastern wards.

It is the intention that these plans will provide overarching guidelines and give Council direction in developing recreation in the Far North District. Although these are 10 year plans they will be reviewed every three years to reflect the changing needs of the districts sport and recreation organisations. The documents will also be used to determine Council’s priorities and which individual projects may be included in the 2009/2019 Far North Future Plan (Council’s main planning tool).

Council’s role is not only as a funder but may also include advocacy and leadership roles for Council to assist in developing partnerships with community groups, Trusts, funders and sponsors in order to undertake these projects in a collaborative approach.
