Community Funding
What is Available from Council?
Council administers a number of funding programmes to support community projects and events:
- Community Fund (funded by district ratepayers)
- Creative Communities (on behalf of Creative New Zealand)
- SPARC Rural Travel Fund (on behalf of Sport and Recreation New Zealand
- Hundertwasser Fund (funded by donations)
Council's Community Fund
Effective from July 2009, the Far North District Council has set aside money gathered from the General Rate, and made it available to the community to support community projects and events, on application.
The funding is allocated by Community Boards, which make decisions guided by Council policy. Applications can be made at any time, but are only considered at formal meetings of the Boards. Complete applications must received no later than two weeks before the Board meeting at which it is to be considered.
