Community Facilities
All work undertaken by the Group is focused on contributing to community and economic development.
In relation to economic development, Council works to contribute to a strong growing and sustainable District economy that makes a tangible and positive difference to the people of the Far North across the District, with a particular focus on attracting investment to the District.
In community development, Council has a pivotal role in ensuring that appropriate decision makers and funders are part of any discussion regarding a community’s sustainable development.
The three key enablers are:
1. Help communities to increase their capacity to identify, agree and articulate their priorities and visions for the future
2. Increase the capacity of Council to contribute to community wellbeing
3. Work with Government and non – government organizations to increase alignment between the aspirations of the community and the contribution Council provides
