Parks, reserves and playgrounds
The council maintains approximately 500 hectares of recreational grounds and facilities through the district, in over thirty locations. They are there for the enjoyment of all, ratepayers and visitors alike.
Many of the parks and reserves also contain playgrounds. It is the council's responsibility to maintain these to comply with New Zealand/Australian playground standards. These are supplied through the Community board programme.
Please look after our parks and reserves as they are there for us to enjoy.
If you would like to use a park or reserve for a wedding, sports day or fund raiser please look at the information we have provided about applying to hold an event on a Council Reserve.
If there is a problem with Playground or Park facilities, please contact us so that this may be attended to.
