Welcome to Far North MAPS. On this page you will find information about the use of Far North MAPS.
If you are planning to use Far North MAPS on a regular basis it is advised that you print this page out for future reference.
Accessing the site
The URL www.fndcmaps.govt.nz will open up Far North MAPS. You will be asked to accept the terms and conditions before you can use the site.
Layers in the Public Site
The following layers are available free of charge to anyone who accesses Far North MAPS.
- Cadastral Layers: property boundaries, addresses, roads etc.
- Topographic Layers: Place Names, Lakes, Rivers, Railway Lines etc.
- Aerial Photography: This includes both rural and urban aerial photography.
- Kiwi Zones: Areas of Kiwi Bird concentration and Habitats.
- Contours: 5 m counters.
- Land and Water Resources: Soils and on site wastewater modelling for septic tanks.
- Hazards: (NRC) Hazard Layers.
Layers in the Subscription Site
The following additional layers are available on subscription to Far North MAPS.
- Supply Services: All pipes, manholes etc that the Council has a record off for stormwater, wastewater and water.
- District Plan Zones, Resources and Potential Flood Zones: All of the details that can currently be found in the print version of the District Plan.
- Coming Soon - Urban Floodplain zones based on 1:10 year and 1:100 year floods plus the estimated climate change from the Stormwater Catchment Plans.
- Under investigation - Streaming NZAA sites.

Subscribing to Far North MAPS
To access the subscription layers we ask that you send an email to maps@fndc.govt.nz with the subject heading of "Subscribe Far North MAPS" and with the following information in the body of the email:
- Your company or organisation name
- Billing Address
- Contact email address
- Contact Name
- Contact Phone Number
Once we receive this information we will set you up in the system and you will receive login information via the contact email address you have provided.
The cost for the subscription site is $50 (incl GST) per month. We will invoice you once a month for this service. This charge is on a cost recovery basis only and will be reviewed as required.
Use of the site - some pointers
- If you are a subscriber to the site the login button is in the top right hand corner when viewing the map.
- The Help button in the top right hand corner will give you generic help instructions for the use of Far North MAPS.
- Printing to PDF is a long process - please be patient as the generation of the PDF Maps and legend can take up to a minute.
