Dog Complaints

This page provides information about how to complain about dogs.

If anyone is in danger of an aggressive or attacking  dog, please contact emergency services immediately on 111.

Reporting a Dog Attack

To report a dog attack to Council, please contact us.  We will need to know: 

  • Name, address and contact phone number
  • Your location, including house or rapid number, culvert number, approximate kilometers from closest intersecton
  • Exact nature or description of situation
  • What was attacked? A person? Animal?
  • Were there any injuries as a result of the attack?
  • Where and when did the attack occur?
  • Dog details - breed; colour; sex?

Reporting an Aggressive Dog

To report an aggressive dog to Council, please contact us.  We will need to know: 

  • Name, address and contact phone number
  • Your location, including house or rapid number, culvert number, approximate kilometers from closest intersecton
  • Exact nature or description of the situation
  • What did the dog challenge? A person? An animal? A vehicle?
  • What date and time did the incident occur?
  • Dog details - breed; colour; sex

Non-Aggressive Dog Complaints (e.g. barking, straying or fouling)

To report a non-aggressive dog creating anuisance (e.g. straying, fouling on a property, barking, or getting into rubbish) please contact us.  We will need to know: 

  • Name, address and contact phone number
  • Your location of issue including house or rapid number, culvert number, approximate kilometers from closest intersecton
  • Exact nature or description of situation
  • Dog details - breed; colour; sex?
  • Do you know who the dog owner is?
  • How often does the problem occur?

Request for a dog trap

Animal Control has a limited number of dog traps that can be lent out. If you are having problems with stray dogs wandering onto your property, please contact us.
