Property Sales Information

I have recently sold or purchased property. What information is required?

Usually the transfer is done by the buyers' and sellers' solicitors or conveyancers and your queries should be directed to those providing the conveyancing service to you. They advise us formally as part of their normal process. No action should be needed by the buyer or seller. However, should you have any queries, Contact Us for further information.

Why am I still receiving a rate demand with full charges when I have sold a part of my property?

This could be because the time required issue new titles, revalue the properties and provide new rate assessments can be significant, so a special process called a part sale is used to manage the transition from rating the original property to rating the parts separately. The new assessments start in the rating year ( starting 1 July) following the transition. The arrangements to pay the rates on the property during the period of transition are normally detailed in the conditions of the sale agreed to by the parties. Contact us for further information concerning your property.

Why have I not received a rate demand even though I have purchased a part of a property?

This could be because the time required to complete a subdivision, issue new titles, revalue the properties and provide new rate assessments can be significant, so a special process called a part sale is used to manage the transition from rating the original property to rating the parts separately. The new assessments start in the rating year ( starting 1 July) following the transition. The arrangements to pay the rates on the property during the period of transition are normally detailed in the conditions of the sale agreed to by the parties. Contact us for further information concerning your property.
