Waste & Recycling Guide
Our Waste & Recycling Guide is delivered to all households in the district and is produced to help both residents and visitors to the district know exactly what facilities are available, what recyclables are accepted at Refuse Transfer Stations and to provide tips and ideas on waste reduction. Refuse Transfer Station Current Schedule of Charges
Refuse charges are determined by the Far North District Council and not the contractor. Payment can be made directly to the contractor at each Refuse Transfer Station. Whole Tyre Disposal
From 1 June 2007, whole tyres will not be accepted at the landfills, Russell and Ahipara. Tyres will need to be quartered, shredded or side walls removed (minimum requirement) before disposal.
- The cost will be $71.50 per tonne at Ahipara and $30.00 per m3 at Russell.
Whole tyres will still be accepted through Refuse Transfer Stations at the following charges:
- Motorcycle $2.50
- Passenger Cars $3.00
- Light Truck and 4 x 4 $6.00
- Truck Tyres over 500mm rim $12.00
- Tractor and Super Single $14.00
Any cut/shredded tyres disposed at Refuse Transfer Stations will be charged at the refuse m3 rate.
Refuse Collection Services
These services are offered by commercial operators. The following operators provide kerbside and skip refuse collection services and you will need to contact them directly for collection details and any associated costs.
