Kawakawa Library and Service Centre is currently located on Gillies Street in the heart of Kawakawa. Right next to the iconic Hundertwasser toilets, we’re in the process of preparing to shift into the brand new Te Hononga centre.
From October until April, the library will move into a pop-up space in the Kings Theatre in Kawakawa, just a little bit further down Gillies Street. This will allow us to prepare for a shift into the exciting new Te Hononga building, a shared space with the local community, which will open in April 2020.
Open on weekdays 8-4.30and 9-1 on Saturday, Kawakawa Library and Service Centre offers a range of Council and library functions including copying, scanning, faxing, public access internet and Wi-Fi. You can also access a full range of FNDC services.
Other programmes and services include a weekly storytime every Tuesday from 10:30am, computer and e-resource assistance, and Spark Jump - an initiative that allows eligible families to access prepaid internet services from home.
This is an exciting time for Kawakawa. We welcome all local residents and visitors into the library space, and can’t wait for our new library and service centre to open in 2020.
