Why is the library moving?

Kawakawa Library and Council Service Centre will become part of the brand new Te Hononga Centre. Before Te Hononga opens, the current Library and former Post Office building will be demolished.

The Library and Service Centre will continue to serve customers from a temporary home in Kings Theatre.

How long will the Library and Service Centre be at Kings Theatre?

We will operate from Kings Theatre until we move into our new premises in Te Hononga in April 2020.

What services will be provided at Kings Theatre?

  • Normal Council payment and information services
  • A small, regularly refreshed book collection for browsing and borrowing
  • Hold requests
  • Wifi / internet
  • Printing, faxing and scanning

What will the opening hours be?

  • Monday: Fri: 8am-4:30pm
  • Saturday: 9am-1pm (no Service Centre functions on Saturday).

What about after-hours book returns?

Afterhours book returns will be offered outside King’s Theatre and will be well sign posted.

Far North District Council is very grateful for the support provided to the Kawakawa community by King’s Theatre Creative during this transition period. Megan, Vicki and the team look forward to seeing you in their temporary space from Monday 21 October.
