Make a submission - Proposed District Plan

Anyone can make a submission on the Proposed District Plan using one of the following options:

Online

Make an online submission via the ePlan (see below for step guide)

Download

Download a Word document of the submission form or pick up a hard copy submission form from the following council offices:

  1. Kaikohe, Head Office, 5 Memorial Drive
  2. Kaitāia, Te Ahu, Corner Matthews Avenue and South Road
  3. Kerikeri, John Butler Centre 60 Kerikeri Road

Hand in

Deliver your hard copy submission form to any Far North District Council office or library, from 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday.
 
Written submissions must be submitted on the council submission form, or on the prescribed form being Form 5 of the Resource Management (Forms, Fees and Procedures) Regulations 2003.
 
Your submission must state whether you want to present your submission at a council hearing on the Proposed District Plan.

 

Friend of a submitter service

We are offering a friend of the submitter service to help you make your submission. The “Friend of the Submitter” is an independent planning consultant who can assist you to understand the planning process and help you make an effective submission. There is no cost for this service.

If you wish to use the Friend of the Submitter Service, please email pdp@fndc.govt.nz or call 0800 920 029 and ask for the District Planning Team.


Step by step guide

You can make your submission through the ePlan. Below is a quick overview of how to make your submission electronically. If you need help navigating the ePlan, read this handy guide (PDF)(PDF, 851KB) or watch this video.

STEP 1: View the Proposed District Plan

NOTE: It is important to read the Proposed District Plan before making a submission. As you go through it, you may like to make a note of which areas you would like to make a submission on.

STEP 2: Register and confirm account

^While on the ePlan, click “Make a Submission” (at the top of the page) and

^The system will prompt you to Register or Login.

^Registration screen: enter your email and a password for your account.

^Once you have entered your information, you will receive this message on screen. Check your emails and spam folder for a new email.

Open the link in the email sent from "Far North District Council District Plan".

Once you have clicked the link, you will see the message above.

 STEP 3: Login to your account

You can now login with the email address and password created before.

STEP 4: Add your submission points

Work your way through the plan, clicking on the paragraphs or points you want to add to your submission. The tool will prompt you to fill out the relevant sections on each submission point, stating your position (support / support in-part, oppose), the reasons for your submission and what you want the Council to do about it. Click ‘OK’ when you have completed these details for each submission point and the submission points will save.

STEP 5: Save your submission points

  • At this stage the system will ask you for some personal details e.g. name, address and some information to meet our legal requirements under the Resource Management Act 1991.

  • When you have saved your submission you can leave the website. Your draft submission will be saved and ready for you to edit when you log back in.

STEP 6: Submit your submission to council

  • When you are ready to submit your submission, click ‘submit’ in the bottom right corner of the screen.

  • Once your submission has been accepted by Council for evaluation, you will get an acknowledgement email with a copy of your submission.
