ANZAC Day services back on track in Far North

Most ANZAC Day services are back to pre-COVID arrangements this year, with a range of commemorations planned in the Far North. Find out what services the RSA have listed here...

Attending ANZAC Day commemorations on Tuesday 25 April will be easier this year, with a greater range of dawn and civic services planned for the Far North, now that COVID-19 restrictions are no longer an issue.

Remembering New Zealanders who have served in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations on the international stage over the last century draws together people from all walks of life to pay their respects on ANZAC Day. The day is also a reminder of the unique comradeship New Zealanders and Australians share.

Last year, commemorations and parades were scaled back due to strict crowd restrictions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, most commemorations are back to pre-COVID arrangements.

As well as dawn services, civic services will be held mid-morning or later in many locations, with a sunset service at Waitangi Treaty Grounds also planned. The focus of the Waitangi service this year will be on those who remained behind on the home front. The ceremony starts at 5pm and entry is free. For more information go to ANZAC Day Sunset Ceremony - PAIHIA200.

Below are some of the services planned for Northland, according to the Returned and Services Association (RSA) website. You can also search the RSA website for a service near you - Find an Anzac Day Service 2023 (rsa.org.nz).
