Access to a popular Kerikeri waterfall and swimming hole has been temporarily closed due to significant damage caused by high volumes of stormwater.

Walkers are being asked not to use the track to Charlies Rock until repairs can be made and the route reopened after winter.

The track is a popular 20-minute walk that leads to Charlies Rock waterfall from Landing Road. Ongoing erosion and damage to the track from stormwater has made it unsafe for many users and it will be closed until repairs can be completed. Designs have now been finalised and the aim is to reopen the track in December 2022.

Signs warning users of the danger and the temporary closure will be erected at the track entrance shortly.
