One of the council’s longest-serving senior leaders is leaving to take up a new role as CEO at South Wairarapa District Council.

Janice Smith, Group Manager for Corporate Services at the Far North District Council (FNDC), has worked at the council for 18 years, since moving here from Leicester in the United Kingdom.

The chance to move closer to her Wellington-based daughter and grandchildren was a major bonus in accepting the new role.

Ms Smith has more than 40 years’ experience in local government in both the UK and Aotearoa and is a fully qualified accountant.

Her last day with FNDC will be on 3 November.
