Far North dog registration forms to be resent

Far North dog owners are being asked to disregard erroneous dog registration letters posted out last week after incorrect fee and microchip details were discovered on some forms.

New corrected forms will be posted to all 6000 registered dog owners this week and should arrive in mailboxes by the end of next week.

An administrative error meant that between 300 and 400 dog registration forms asked for the late payment penalty fee, instead of the standard dog registration fee. Dog owners normally have two months from 1 July to pay their dog registration before a late payment fee is added from 1 September. Some registration forms also included an incorrect microchip number.

The council apologises for the mix up and assures dog owners that no one will be penalised for the mistake. The standard fee payment period has been extended until 8 September. All details have also been corrected for those paying online in time for payments from 1 July.

The correct fees schedule for 2022/23 is:
