Footpath projects hit the road soon

Haruru and Russell residents will soon be kicking up their heels on new footpaths. The works are just two of at least five footpath projects due to get underway in the next few months across the Far North.

Haruru and Russell residents will soon be kicking up their heels on new footpaths planned for each area. The works are just two of at least five footpath projects due to get underway in the next few months across the Far North.

The Bay of Islands works will include new kerbs, channels, and drainage as well as concrete footpaths. Both works will have temporary traffic and pedestrian management in place.

Construction of the pedestrian path along State Highway 11 in Haruru will begin on Wednesday 3 April, and will operate between Mondays and Saturdays, 7am to 6pm. The footpath will be mostly concrete with a section of timber boardwalk and is expected to take 35 working days to complete. The 1.8m wide path will run from Nautical Drive to Haruru Falls Road and will clock in at 587m long.

A path planned for Queen Street in Russell will be made up of several concrete sections and will total 95m in length. The new footpath will continue an existing footpath at the intersection of Wellington, York and Queen streets. Construction of the path is due to start once the Haruru project is completed, but may begin earlier if other teams become available. It is expected to take 17 working days to complete.

Noise will be minimised where possible during construction and the patience of residents and motorists is appreciated while this essential work is carried out. Project completion times are weather dependent.
