Kaikohe skate ramp at Memorial Park will be closed until repairs can be made and the structure made safe.
The closure follows reports of users being injured by screw heads popping out due to areas of the ramp deteriorating.
Council General Manager for Infrastructure and Asset Management, Andy Finch, says contractors had been regularly making running repairs to keep the popular skate ramp open for users, but reports of injuries meant closure of the ramp was unavoidable.
Mr Finch says that an assessment of the ramp had revealed movement in the ramp plates. This will require more significant repairs than initially thought.
“I want to assure Kaikohe residents that the ramp will be repaired.”
Temporary fencing around the ramp was erected today.
