New booking system set to go live

A new online system streamlining the process to book a building inspection at Far North District Council goes live next week.

It means no building inspections can be booked on Friday 1 December while the council prepares for the launch on Monday 4 December.

The new online booking system means the public will have direct contact with the booking team, bypassing the customer services staff. It will speed up the process by allowing customers to directly request a time for inspection and the ability to change or cancel appointments.

To book an inspection from 8am on Monday 4 December, head to the council’s building inspections web page or scan the QR on that page that will take you directly to the online booking platform.

From there, select the type of inspection and the preferred time, and use the map on the web page to select the correct zone for the booking. Customers must provide the building consent number, site-specific details, such as gate codes or location identification, and identify any landmarks or hazards.

Once complete, the building team will double check the booking and availability of inspectors, then the customer will receive an email notification confirming the booking. The request is not confirmed until the customer has received that confirmation email.

The timeslot given is a guide only and the appointment may change when inspectors plan their day.

A booking cannot be cancelled or changed through the new system within 48 hours of an inspection. This must be done by phone. Inspections changed or cancelled without 24 hours’ notice will be charged.
