The Ministry for Primary Industries has allocated the council $20,000 in the form of a Mayoral Relief Fund to support the needs of businesses in the primary industry affected by the heavy rain and flooding event of 16-19 August 2022.

The funding has been split into two $10,000 sections. The first portion of the funding is to provide partial reimbursement for the costs of primary sector flood recovery measures via an application form based on a case-by-case basis.

To apply for reimbursement of expenses, the costs must have been incurred because of the flooding event and relate to primary sector businesses within the Far North District Council boundaries.

You can download an application form here.

The second portion is going towards the Rural Support Trust to catch up with communities who have been impacted. The services include the delivery of wellbeing support initiatives and events, along with access to recovery facilitators and specialist technical advice.

To find out when the Northland Rural Support Trust will be visiting your community next you can follow their Facebook page.
