Taipā Sea Scouts seek lease renewal

Published on 20 November 2023

Doubtless Bay Sea Scouts is seeking a new 15-year ground lease to extend its existing use of Taipā Recreation Reserve.

The troop has been based at the site since 1991 but has been serving the local community for over 80 years. It operates under the Scouts Aotearoa umbrella and remains a very popular organisation for young people in the area. It aims to empower individuals aged 5 to 26 to lead impactful lives, fostering development in physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental aspects within a safe and nurturing environment.

Under the Reserves Act, the council must notify the public of any proposal to lease a Recreation Reserve and seek feedback before making a decision.

Community members are encouraged to share their thoughts on the proposal by Tuesday 12 December 2023. You can have your say on the councils Have Your Say webpage. Alternatively, you can email your views to submissions@fndc.govt.nz or deliver a written submission to any Far North District Council service center. Verbal submissions will be organised at the end of the submission period.
