Sport New Zealand and Sport Northland have made available to the Council a combined fund to be used to encourage more children to participate in sports by providing assistance with travel to venues. The fund is allocated by the Council's Community Boards twice annually, for winter and summer sports.
This round is for sporting activities that will take place during the 2020 winter season.
The travel funding must be used:
- For either more students to access current opportunities or for students who currently participate to access new opportunities
- For children and youth sports teams (ages 5-19)
- For travel to regular sporting competitions within the Far North.
Applicants need to provide matching funding to show their commitment to the activities and the young people’s participation.
Applicants that have received funding in the previous years need to return an accountability form called the Rural Travel Fund Project Report Form. If a form is not completed and returned a future application may be declined.
Application and Project Report Forms are available from all Far North District Council Service Centres, all Far North Sport Northland Coordinators and on the Council's website https://www.fndc.govt.nz/Your-District/Funding/Rural-Travel-Fund
Completed forms should be directed to the Funding email firstname.lastname@example.org or Funding Advisor, Far North District Council, Private Bag 752, Memorial Ave, Kaikohe
Applications close on the following dates:
Thursday 28 March Te Hiku Ward
Thursday 9 April Kaikohe-Hokianga and Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Wards
Eligible applications will be considered at the Community Board meetings in late April/early May.
Late applications will not be considered.
