Candidate statement:
I have lived in the Paihia area for over 40 years, working in hospitality & tourism. As a resident & ratepayer I understand the complexities of balancing the needs of the locals with the impact of the visitors to our area. I have experience working as part of a team on various committees & currently Chair the Bay of Islands - Whangaroa Community Board. In this role I represent & act as an advocate for the interests of the people and communities within this area. I have the dedication, passion, time & energy required to attend workshops & meetings with my focus on keeping communities connected & empowered.
If elected as your representative, I will continue to encourage, support & foster appropriate community development, having recognised the diversity within our Ward. I believe that the best community outcomes are those that are identified & developed by the communities themselves.
