Rapid response teams going door to door

Rapid response teams are being sent out to the worst affected parts of the district now that all weather warnings from the MetService have been lifted for Northland.

The teams of FENZ, Urban Search And Rescue (USAR) and council staff will be going door to door to ask people what their needs are following the storm.

Today (Friday 27 March) they will be visiting:

  • Kaitāia
  • Waipapakauri
  • Panguru
  • Pawarenga
  • Waimamaku
  • Waikare
  • Rāwhiti
  • Ōmanaia / Whirinaki
  • Whangaroa / Wainui.

If you need assistance but live outside these areas, call us on 0800 920 029 so we can provide help.

The teams will be driving vehicles clearly identified with USAR, Civil Defence or Far North District Council logos.

Please tell them if you need help with:

  • accommodation
  • property damage
  • food
  • clothing
  • health and wellness
  • livestock.

The Mayoral Relief Fund will be opening soon to support homeowners and residents impacted by the 26 March heavy rain event. The fund, also known as Te Tahua Toka Tū Moana, will be accepting applications from those affected across the district.
