Roading successes sealed
Far North District Council’s sealed renewals project has hit some key milestones to wrap up a busy 2025 for our contractors.
More than half of the pavement rehabilitation programme for 2025/26 has been completed, and 25 per cent of the road resurfacing programme is finished, including 70 per cent of pre-seal repairs.
It’s the first time in seven years that FNDC has been this far ahead in the renewals programme at the end of the year.
Key highlights of the pavement rehabilitation programme include completed works at two sites on Hihi Road, the Wiroa Road-Waimate Road intersection, and Kempthorne Road, with drainage and clearance works underway at Fairburn Road.
Line marking has been carried out at the completed sites, and all traffic management signs have been removed for the Christmas shutdown.
Seal extension works at Haruru Falls Road have also progressed well and will remain under a temporary 40km/h speed restriction during the Christmas shutdown period.
Drivers are reminded to take extra care around worksites and stick to the speed limit.
