Ferry services
Both the east and west coasts of the Far North have vehicle and passenger ferries that form part of the district's transportation network.
Vehicle ferries - the Hokianga ferry, which runs between Rāwene and Kohukohu, is operated on behalf of the council by Northland Ferries. A vehicle ferry between Ōpua and Ōkiato is also run by Northland Ferries.
Passenger ferries - there are three passenger ferry services operating between Paihia and Russell. They are run by Northland Ferries, Waitere (blue ferry) and the Happy Ferry (white ferry).
