Grouping storm-related road repair projects according to their complexity has enabled a panel of construction suppliers to get the first phase of repairs underway sooner than expected. The panel, established by the council, has been assigned 12 of the most severely-impacted roads across the Far North to manage, with slip repairs started in May and continuing through July.

Three slip repair projects have kicked off this week, two on Wainui Road near Matauri Bay and the third on Whangae Road near Kawakawa. All are likely to cause some delays for travellers.

Local retailers are being given the ‘thumbs up’ for displaying the council’s water restriction signs and getting Tiaki ngā wai – Save water now messaging out to the whole district this summer.
