We maintain a range of facilities for Far North residents and visitors, including playgrounds, sports fields, swimming pools, walkways and reserves. We also own and maintain toilets, wharves and pontoons, cemeteries, libraries, community halls and housing for the elderly.

Council summer operating hours

Far North District Council will be running reduced services over the Christmas and New Year period, with most reopening on Monday 8 January 2024.

The last date to apply for a LIM report if it is needed before Christmas is Tuesday 5 December. Any applications received after that date may not be issued until after Wednesday 10 January 2024.

The last day for building inspections is Tuesday 19 December and bookings for new inspections can be made from Tuesday 9 January 2024.

Kaikohe, Kaitāia (Te Ahu), Kerikeri, Kāeo, Rāwene, and Kawakawa service centres will close at midday on Friday 22 December, reopening on Monday 8 January 2024.
