Resource consents

Engineer on site

The Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA) requires local councils to ensure that effects of land use and subdivisions on the environment are managed sustainably. One of our jobs is to decide whether to grant resource consents to people wanting to undertake activities that might affect the environment.

Applying for a resource consent

When resource consent is required (including earthworks), how we can support your application, subdivision and affected parties.

Processing your application

Assessment of your application, approval from affected parties, notifications, hearings and decisions.

You have resource consent! Now what?

Conditions of your consent, changing your consent, monitoring and compliance and other approvals.

Deemed permitted activity

If your proposal is a boundary activity and you have written approval of the adjoining owners you may not require resource consent.
