Improved pedestrian access to Te Hiku Sports Hub

Access to the recently opened Te Hiku Sports Hub is about to get easier for pedestrians, with the installation of a new crossing on South Road, Kaitāia in front of the Claud Switzer Memorial Trust Rest Home and Hospital.

Work on the crossing starts on Monday 17 June, between 7.30am and 6pm, and runs for approximately three weeks.

During this time, traffic will be reduced to 30km/h, with Stop/Go traffic management in place.

Construction of the new pedestrian crossing will include a stretch of new footpath, kerb extensions and a traffic island. The crossing will not include a raised safety platform.
