Night roadworks for Heritage Bypass and Waitangi

Roading contractors will take advantage of an unexpected break in wet weather to complete scheduled resurfacing work on a section of Kerikeri’s Heritage Bypass over the next two nights.

Similar work is also planned for Tau Henare Drive at Waitangi starting Sunday night (19 May).

Work on the Heritage Bypass was due to start later in the week but will begin tonight now that wet weather has passed through the district more quickly than initially forecast. The work will replace the upper 50mm of the asphalt road surface extending from the bridge up towards the roundabout at Kerikeri Road.

Traffic management will be in place from 6pm-6am from tonight (Wednesday 15 May) and again tomorrow night (Thursday 16 May). Traffic will be reduced to one lane and controlled by traffic lights.

If the work cannot be completed, it will be undertaken on Sunday night.

Similar resurfacing work on Tau Henare Drive at Waitangi will be completed over three nights, starting from Sundayt. The work extendsfrom the main Treaty Grounds carpark, up to the ground’s top entrance. Traffic controls will be place.
