Road closures for festival runners and walkers

Participants in the Bay of Islands Run/Walk Festival on Sunday 18 May will be treated to a scenic course that takes in the Paihia waterfront, Waitangi Treaty Grounds and Waitangi Mountain Bike Park.

To keep them and spectators safe some road closures will be in place.

Road closures:

  • Paihia waterfront - Marsden Road on SH11 (between School Road and Bayview Road) will be closed for the duration of the event, from 6am to 12.30pm. A detour along School Road will allow access to the central business area
  • Waitangi waterfront - Te Karuwhā Parade will be closed from 7am to 11.30am from Puketona Road roundabout to the intersection of Te Kamara Avenue, just in front of the Waitangi Bridge.

Runners and walkers taking part in the festival can choose from a range of distances— 6km, 8.7km and 21.1km. More information on the festival can be found here.
