Hīkoi to take stand against drug use in Kaitāia

A hīkoi will move through central Kaitāia tomorrow, Thursday 9 October, as community members unite to raise awareness about the harm caused by drug use.
The event, organised by the Waitomo Papakainga Development Society Incorporated, will travel along Commerce Street from 10am to 11am beginning at Jaycee Centennial Park and ending at the old Pak’n’Save car park.
Marshals will be leading participants throughout the hīkoi, helping to guide the group safely within designated boundaries.
Far North District Council has been informed of the march and asks drivers to avoid Commerce Street if they can, or to drive with caution along the route when the hīkoi is underway.
Residents and businesses are advised to plan for reduced access along Commerce Street during the event.
