Roger Ackers

Roger Ackers is the Group Manager for Planning and Policy at Far North District Council.

Mr Ackers grew up in Northland and has lived in the Far North since 2005, returning home to raise a family after living overseas for six years. Over the last 18 years, he and his wife have raised two daughters and their family has expanded to include two cats and a dog.

A background on IT projects and IT Management, he has an undergraduate degree in biology and resource and environmental planning and a master’s degree in economics alongside three post graduate diplomas. He has worked for Far North District Council for 15 years, six of which have been in strategy, policy, and planning development for the council.

Outside of work, Roger is a constant gardener, landscaper and a general 'odd job guy' who also enjoys the occasional long distance ocean swim and getting in the water for a surf when he gets the chance and Tāwhirimātea is "playing nicely".
