About the water supply
Water for the Paihia-Ōpua-Waitangi supply is sourced from the Waitangi River. There is no consent limit applied to this water source. Restrictions are occasionally applied when the river is in flood or when demand exceeds the capacity of the treatment plant to treat water.
Supply improvements
The Council has an initial business case prepared to build a new water treatment plant for Paihia-Ōpua-Waitangi. The Council will investigate securing land for the plant before moving the project into detailed design.
