Council contractor, Ventia, has collected two industry awards for its work creating the access road and trailer park at Rangitoto Boat Ramp on Kerikeri Inlet Road.
Ventia collected the overall Northland Environmental Award for the year, as well as the Excellence in Project $500,000 - $1 million category for 2022.
The awards were presented during the Civil Contractors Northland Awards held last week.
Rangitoto Boat Ramp, also known as Windsor Landing, was originally built by a private developer in the 1990s to access the south side of Kerikeri Inlet. When the developer abandoned the land, the ramp was acquired by Far North District Council, but with no public access, its use was limited.
The upgrade provided public access to the existing jetty and floating pontoon via a new access road and parking for 18 boat trailers and seven cars. The project also re-surfaced the boat ramp.
The ramp is about 10km east of Kerikeri's town centre on Inlet Rd and is the only boat access on the south side of Kerikeri Inlet.
