Charges at a ‘pay and display’ carpark in Paihia will shortly increase by 50 cents per hour. Carpark fees are used for the ongoing maintenance of the popular facility.

The hourly fee for parking at the Williams Road carpark in Paihia will increase on 1 July 2023 from $2 to $2.50 per hour.

The carpark is one of the district’s few pay and display parking areas. It is open 24 hours and has 160 parking spaces available including spaces for campervans. It also has public toilets. It is very popular during the peak summer tourism season as it is close to both the Paihia central business district and beachfront.

The car park is owned and operated by the Council’s commercial arm, Far North Holdings Limited, who has maintained the current $2 per hour fee since early 2017. It has programmed for further maintenance work on the carpark through the coming low season winter months.

Alternative free parking options are also available around the Paihia central business district and along the beachfront.
