‘Yeehah’ for return of Country Rock Festival

The annual knees-up returns with thirty-three performers covering a world of country music sub-genres. Australian acts are back on the bill now that COVID lockdowns are over.

A foot stomping good time is on the bill this weekend with the return of the Bay of Islands' Country Rock Festival, New Zealand's largest and longest running country music festival.

The annual knees-up begins Friday and will feature some of the best home-grown country acts, plus Australian guests, all eager to get back into the swing now that COVID lockdowns are over.

Thirty-three acts will cover a world of country music sub-genres. They include Adam Harvey, one of Australia’s most popular entertainers and winner of nine Golden Guitar Awards (the Country Music Awards of Australia). Adam will be joined by another four Australian acts, along with a who’s who of New Zealand country music performers.

Acts run for 45 minutes at each of the six venues across Paihia and Russell, kicking off at 5pm on Friday 12 May and running from 11am to midnight on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 May.

A free shuttle bus runs between all six venues every hour for ticket holders.

The festival was granted $5,000 by the Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Community Board to go towards the shuttle-bus service and to support publicity for the annual event.
