Kawakawa Library
The Kawakawa Library and Service Centre is located in the Te Hononga Hundertwasser Memorial Park.
Opened in October 2020, the library is in the heart of Kawakawa, co-located with a gallery, community workshop space and a memorial to Hundertwasser. It is also a stop on the Twin Coast Cycle Trail, and signals the gateway to the Bay of Islands.
Te Hononga Hundertwasser Memorial Park also has freedom camping spaces, as well as a 24/7 shower and toilet block for campers and cyclists.
Operating from Mondays to Fridays from 8 am to 4:30 pm, and extending its services with the library open on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm, the Library and Service Centre is a bustling hive of activity. Visitors can avail themselves of a comprehensive range of FNDC services, including copying, scanning, public access to the internet, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Other programmes and services include eLibrary help, robotics and craft sessions, and Spark Jump - an initiative that allows eligible families to access prepaid internet services.
