Help us build the Kerikeri you want
You told us what you think the future of Kerikeri and Waipapa should look like through Te Pātukurea, the Kerikeri Waipapa Spatial Plan. Now we need your help to decide how to make that vision a reality.
The Kerikeri Urban Design Framework will help guide how the main population and economic centre of the Far North looks, feels, and functions over the coming decades. This will build on the direction set through Te Pātukurea, the Kerikeri Waipapa Spatial Plan, which was adopted in 2025. This next stage focuses on practical urban design for the town, including public spaces, streets, connections, and future development areas.
Community input will play an important role in developing the framework, and the council is encouraging residents, businesses, community groups, and young people to share their ideas and experiences through an online survey . This feedback will help identify what is working well, what could be improved, and what should be prioritised as Kerikeri continues to grow.
A key part of the project we will be working alongside mana whenua hapū and the wider community to help ensure the framework is inclusive and reflects local identity, culture, values, and aspirations. This work is expected to run through to early 2027, with further opportunities for the community to get involved through workshops, engagement events, and formal consultation on the draft framework.
People can complete the survey and find out more on the council’s website. Feedback will be open until Sunday 28 June 2026.
