A Community Economic Development workshop series is calling on locals, community groups, artists, and innovators to join in the conversation, share ideas, and help regenerate the economic and community development of Kaikohe.
A series of six workshops are planned around the town from 1 to 14 August 2022. Each workshop takes a different focus and asks a range of people to contribute their visions for the future. All workshops are free to attend and include spot prizes.
Workshops include community discussions about future mahi, skills and opportunities needed; learning about what the Ngāwhā Innovation and Enterprise Park offers; using robotics and virtual reality to tap into the creativity of tamariki; exposing economic and civic challenges to enable regeneration; using the creative arts to explore how to support existing businesses and grow new enterprises; sharing aspirations for youth training and employment.
The workshops will be led by local experts and are open to anyone who wants to learn, build connections, and contribute ideas about how to grow a thriving Kaikohe for everyone.
The Mayors Task Force for Jobs is providing funding for the workshops, which are also supported by Te Kāhui Kaunihera ō Aotearoa Local Government New Zealand and the Far North District Council.
