Kawakawa’s iconic Hundertwasser public toilets are closing from today (Thursday 23 January) until Sunday 26 January to carry out urgent repairs.

A container-sized membrane unit has been installed in the latest stage of a long-awaited project to link two bores at Sweetwater to the Kaitāia water supply.

Water was restored to homes late last night. Water is flowing to all parts of town although pressures may take a little longer to return to normal. Contractors are back on site today checking flows, pressures and valves around town.
