A corner site on the main street of Kaikohe has been cleared just one month after demolition began to make way for the new Kaikohe Library and Civic Hub, which is set to transform the town centre.
It may be the end of an era for two well-known buildings on the corner of Broadway and Raihara streets in Kaikohe, but high-value material from the demolition site will continue to contribute to the town’s economy.
One week after demolition began, the corner site where Broadway meets Raihara Street has been cleared to make way for what will become the location of a new library for Kaikohe.
Motorists and pedestrians in the area are asked to take care as works start today (Monday 15 July) to demolish vacant buildings where a new library for Kaikohe will be built.
A building project that promises to transform the centre of Kaikohe was officially launched this morning by iwi and hapū, community leaders and council representatives.
