Kerikeri cast with award-winning God of Carnage
Kerikeri Theatre Company is in the spotlight, taking home one of the top prizes at the Northern Area Performance Theatre Awards (NAPTA).
It was nominated for six awards for its production of God of Carnage and won the prestigious Outstanding Play award.
The awards were announced earlier this month at the annual NAPTA ceremony, which celebrates excellence in community theatre across the northern region.
God of Carnage was also recognised with a major individual honour, with Isa Hackett awarded Outstanding Performer in a Leading Female Role.
The theatre company received support from both the Bay of Islands–Whangaroa Community Board and the Far North Creative Communities Committee, which provided funding to help bring the production to the stage. There was a further connection to Far North District Council. Former CEO Shaun Clarke was also a cast member, playing the role of Michel Vallon.
The double win capped off a successful run for the production and highlighted the strength of community theatre in Kerikeri.
