Best time to pay dog regs extended by a week

Far North dog owners have more time to take advantage of the cheapest dog registration rates, with the payment period for the best rates extended to Monday 8 September. Dog owners who take advantage of the extension of the best rates period will also qualify to go into the draw to win one of 10 prize packs on offer.
The new dog registration year began on 1 July, but following requests from the community and technical delays with renewal letters being sent, the council has extended the best registration rate offer by a week.
Whether your kurī is a working dog, hunting companion, or much-loved family pet, now is the time to register them. You can register your dog online or in person at any council service centre. Failure to register a dog could result in a $300 fine.
While registration can be paid all year round, fees will increase to the full fee with late registration penalty from Tuesday 9 September through to 30 June 2026. Dog registration is a legal requirement, and dogs must be registered from three months of age or as soon as they come into your possession.
Additional discounts may be available if your dog is desexed or if you are a Gold Card or Community Services Card holder. Please view our fees and charges schedule for more information.
Don’t miss out – register your dog today and make the most of the best rates before Monday 8 September. For more information, visit the register your dog page on our website.
